Kashmir and Ladakh is State which is part of India (Ladakh is called moonland) (Srinagar City of Lakes) Ladakh is famous for its unique Indo-Tibetan culture. Chanting in Sanskrit and Tibetan language forms an integral part of Ladakh’s Buddhist lifestyle. Annual masked dance festivals weaving and archery are an important part of traditional life in Ladakh. Ladakhi food has much in common with Tibetan food, the most prominent foods being thukpa, noodle soup, Momos, and tsampa.
Kashmir has been noted for its fine arts for centuries including poetry and handicrafts. Shikaras traditional small wooden boats and houseboats are a common feature in lakes and rivers across the Valley. Kashmir is also famous for wazwan and Kawa traditional green tea with spices and almond.
Detailed Tour Itinerary
- Day 1 Arrival In Srinagar
Meet upon Arrival and transfer to Hotel a distance of 15 Kms will be covered in about35 Minutes. On Arrival transfer to Hotel. Afternoon sightseeing of Mughal Gardens visiting Nishat Bagh (Abode of pleasure) built by Asif Khan brother in law of Jahangir in 1632 AD. In addition, Shalimar Bagh (Abode of love) built by Jahangir for his wife Empress Noor Jehan. While your coming in the month of April so it’s opening of Asia’s Largest Tulip garden. All the gardens are situated on the bank of Dal Lake with the Zabarwan Mountains in the background. The distance from Srinagar to the said gardens is about 12 and 15 kms respectively. Enroute visit carpet-weaving factory.
Evening Enjoy a majestic Shikara ride on Dal Lake. Visiting floating and Vegetable gardens etc. Also, witness walnut woodcarving and paper mashie making demonstration.
Dinner Overnight at Hotel.
- Day 02 – Srinagar- Pahalgam- Srinagar:
After breakfast drive to Pahalgam (Valley of Shepherds). The distance of about 95 kms will be covered in about 3 hrs .Enroute visiting Saffron fields, Awantipura ruins (1100 Years old temple of Lord Vishnu built by King Awantiwareman), see the beautiful countryside on the way and lot of rice fields. Drive through the pine Forest. Afternoon have bridle walks and feed your cameras with the
Picture of magnificent view of mountains. Visit Apple Tree Gardens. In the evening return back to srinagar Dinner & overnight stay.
- Day 03 – Srinagar-Gulmarg- Srinagar ( 60 kms )
After breakfast, drive to Gulmarg (Meadow of Flowers) 2730 Mts. above sea level a distance of 60 Kms will be covered in about 2 hrs approx. Gulmarg has one of the best Ski slopes in the world and highest golf course of the world with 18 holes. The view Enroute from Tangmarg to Gulmarg is fascinating. Enjoy Gondola ride upto Kangdoor (1st Phase). Afternoon One can also visit (OWN) Victorian style Church, St. Mary’s is a small place of worship in Gulmarg. The church is famed for its stained glass artwork and utter peace. The church is only accessible by trekking, so one also has the option of experiencing a little adventure on the way.
Rani Temple
Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Maharani Temple is perched atop a hillock in Gulmarg. It is reckoned to have been built by Queen Mohini Bai Sisodhia, the wife of the erstwhile ruler of Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh and thus is named as Maharani Temple or Rani Temple. This red-rooftop temple along with being a sacred place is also a popular tourist attraction in Gulmarg and has been featured in Bollywood flick named Aap Ki Kasam. In the evening return back to srinagar Dinner & overnight stay.
- Day 04 | Srinagar- Kargil | via Sonmarg (200 Kms):
Early morning transfer to Kargil via Sonamarg  by cab.Upon arrival at Reach Sonmarg. Sonamarg is located at an average elevation of 2,740 m (9048 feet). Sonamarg is a popular tourist destination situated at an altitude of 2740 meters above sea level, 82 km north-east of Srinagar. Sonamarg, which means ‘meadow of gold’, has, as its backdrop, snowy mountains against a cerulean sky. The drive to Sonamarg is through yet another spectacular facet of country side in Kashmir, and you will come across Sindh Nallah. The Sindh nallah is the largest tributary of the Indus River in the valley of Kashmir
Proceed to Kargil, Zodjila pass, Drass Village (2nd Coldest Inhabitant place in the World) for War memorial hall & Museum, reach Kargil by evening. Dinner and Overnight in Kargil
- Day 05 : Kargil / Lamayuru / Leh:
Morning after Breakfast leave for Leh, enroute visit Mulbek a giant Buddha Sculpture on Rock Mountain, Lamayuru, the oldest Monastery of Ladakh and have a magnificent view of spectacular view of Moon landscape. Lunch at Nurla / Saspol Village, post lunch leave for Leh, enroute visit Alchi Gompa, Magnetic Hill, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara. O/N Leh.
- Day 06 :- Leh - Hemis /Shey /Thiksey:
After breakfast at hotel visit monasteries of Hemis, Thiksey & Shey:-
Shey –Â it was the ancient capital of Ladakh and even after Singge Namgyal built the more imposing palace at Leh, the kings continued to regard Shey, as their real home. The importance which was attached to Shey – the seat of Ladakh’s heartland – is attested by the enormous number of Chorten about the village, particularly around the palace complex and barren plain to the north of the road.
Thiksey –Â is one of the largest and most impressive Gompas. There are several temples in this Gompa containing images, stupas and exquisite wall paintings. It also houses a two – storied statue of Buddha which has the main prayer hall around its shoulder.
Hemis –Â which is dedicated to Padmasambhava, what a visitor can observes a series of scenes in which the lamas, robed in gowns of rich, brightly colored brocade and sporting masks sometimes bizarrely hideous, parade in solemn dance and mime around the huge flag pole in the center of the courtyard to the plaintive melody of the Shawn. - Day 7 :- Leh Nubra(180 kms)
After Breakfast at Hotel , we take you to Nubra through Khardungla pass which is the highest motorable pass in the world 5600 mtrs and has been recorded in the Gunnies Book of World Records. At the top enjoy the nature beauty of snow capped mountains. In the late afternoon reach to the camp in Nubra Dinner Overnight at hotel/Camp in Nubra.
- Day 08 :- Nubra to leh (185 kms)
After Breakfast at Hotel , Enjoy the double Humped camel ride on own cost afternoon Drive bach to Leh vai same road check inn the hotel dinner and over night in hotel at leh
- Day 09 Leh to Pangong:
After early Breakfast leave for Pangong Lake 14,500 ft, through Changla Pass 17,350 ft. (third Highest Motorable road in the world) Arrival at lake, free time at Leisure and enjoy the colour changing lake and the sun on the banks of lake. Dinner and Overnight stay at Pangong Camp.
- Day 10 Pangong to Leh:
After Breakfast proceed to leh via same route dinner and overnight in leh
- Day 11 Departure From Leh:
After early Breakfast leave for Airport to reach onward destination.
